New Layout for Nirvana

So I had one of those terrible “temporary” layouts up for my Nirvana: Nevermind fanlisting for way too long now. I finally got around to making something pretty for it—it deserves the best honestly. It’s such a great record—even its cover art is iconic. Please go join if you like Nevermind - there just aren’t enough fans joining fanlistings these days. Let’s keep this scene alive!

Title: Less Is More
Subject: Nirvana: Nevermind

I named the site “Less Is More”—it comes from the song Stay Away and I felt the words represent Nirvana’s sound. Really the whole alternative scene was on the verge of breaking into the mainstream, but Nirvana came out with a sound that definitely proved “less is more” and it just exploded. Some people have called Kurt Cobain the anti-hero of guitar and I think that falls in line with this less-is-more idea, as does the whole Grunge thing, stripping the glossy sensibilities from popular music and just delivering raw music. What do you think? Good choice for a name? My boyfriend helped me choose it, haha. He was a huge Nirvana fan as a kid.

The Death of Fanlistings

It seems like fanlistings have really lost their popularity on the web. I think this is probably due to the fall of personal websites in favor of social networking sites like facebook. Facebook has fan pages and stuff, and I hardly know anyone who joins fanlistings anymore. Anyway, that hasn’t stopped me. I’m just really dreading the prospect of going through and deleting all the dead links in my “joined” section. I did make it through my affiliates section on this collective, but I have a lot more links to go through. I hope it won’t always be like this, though. Do you think it will ever pick up? It’s getting lonely around here.

I closed my fanlisting for the movie Friends With Money. It had 2 members after 2 years, including myself. It also had a “temporary” layout for those 2 years, so it was time to let go. I’m thinking of closing a couple others which are sort of obscure and random.

New approvals & more

I finished up the fanlisting for David Schwimmer (you know… Ross from Friends) and submitted a finished form last night. A former owner emailed me the backup of fans from when she had the fanlisting, so I’m actually starting this listing with 750 fans—isn’t that crazy? I think it is my biggest fanlisting now! I’m a little nervous to email the members about the URL change—I hope my host doesn’t have a rule about mass emails like that. Anyway, here it is:
